The teachers plan a daily schedule which follows a structured routine. A monthly schedule (calendar) showing the units of study each week is given to the parents at the beginning of each month.
Jack and Jill follows the majority of the public school calendar holidays. There are a few exceptions.
Parents have always been very conscientious about not exposing their sick child to others. Please continue this.
Emergencies and Medical Concerns
Please keep your emergency information UP TO DATE. We must be able to contact you or your caregiver if your child becomes sick during class.
We encourage the celebration of children’s birthdays. Let us know in advance if you wish to send a special treat. We recommend mini cupcakes, cookies, or any other favorite snack. Please avoid all nuts and peanut butter!!
We provide a daily snack of fruit/vegetable, crackers, pretzels and occasionally, cheese. All food allergies should be noted on the registration form.
If Huntingdon Area schools are closed due to inclement weather, we are also. If Huntingdon has a two hour delay, we start at 10:00 AM. All classes meet at least three times per month. Not all snow days are made up.
Speech screenings are provided by an Intermediate Unit professional. If you have concerns, please make a written request for a screening.
Positive forms of discipline that will not humiliate or frighten will be utilized to prevent a child from harming himself or others. Jack and Jill Nursery School strives to build self esteem and motivate a child from within.
Please dress your child in comfortable shoes and play clothes. We play outside as weather permits. Children may use tempera paint, glue and play dough during each class. Please be sure to label all coats, sweaters, and jackets with your child’s name.
Accidents happen no matter what the age of the child from spills to soiled pants. The nursery school has extra clothing on hand. Please wash and return as soon as possible.
